Outdoor Education

What is this subject about?

This course will give students the opportunity to participate in a range of outdoor adventure activities in a safe and supported manner that encourages environmental appreciation. The activities include: 

  • Rock climbing, Mountain biking, Surfing and Kayaking. 

Students will participate in day trips that will require careful planning, self catering and skill development in the lead up. 

There will be a high practical skills focus on the fundamental aspects of living and travelling in the bush in a minimum impact, lightweight manner.

Why might I be interested in this elective?

You may be interested in this elective if you are adventurous, have a great appreciation for the outdoors and enjoy being physically active. You may also have an interest in camping and understanding our impact on the environment.

Students choosing this course will be required to pay approximately $550 to cover the cost of the outdoor activities.

How will I demonstrate my learning?

Throughout the semester, students will be assessed on practical participation and an assignment presentation.
