Money Management
What is this subject about?
In the Money Management elective students learn about the areas of Commerce such as:
- financial management, including the role of banks, financial risk and debt, consumer protection, taxation, and crypto currencies.
- the recording and reporting of financial information including budgeting, superannuation, and its implications for the future.
- the share market, including involvement in the ASX share-market game and the advantages and disadvantages of investing in shares.
- the aims and risks of property investment, including how interest rates are set and change.
Why might I be interested in this elective?
This elective would interest students who:
- are keen to learn more about money and finance, stock markets and shares, financial literacy such as personal financial management and informed decision making.
- like to think about consumer behaviour and choices that businesses make.
- like to weigh up financial risks and benefits to inform their own money management and that of others, including companies and nations.
- have an interest in pursuing commerce pathways into their VCE and beyond.
How will I demonstrate my learning?
- Short Answer and/or Case Study tests.
- Research tasks regarding real world financial systems and decisions.
- Participating in and reflecting upon your involvement in the ASX Share-market game.
