Year 10 Chinese
What is this subject about?
It allows students to
- further develop the five macro skills – speaking, listening, viewing, reading and writing and consolidate the characters and structures learned in the previous years;
- expand vocabulary and grammatical knowledge to increase complexity of expression;
- interact to exchange information and opinions about their school life and school holidays, customs in different parts of the world and youth issues;
- read fluently texts with Pinyin (Romanised form) as well as in characters;
- be introduced to some common text types, such as diary entries and personal letters;
- prepare for VCE by concentrating on oral and performance work with more attention to the 4 tones and tempo in the target language.
How will I demonstrate my learning?
Formative assessments and summative assessments include
- homework
- class participation in learning activities (speaking, listening, reading, writing and viewing)
- vocabulary and syntax tests
- formal assessments in Listening, Reading and Writing, Viewing and Speaking
- the Oral Examination and the Written Examination at the end of each semester.
Year 10 Chinese Extended
The program is run in conjunction with the Year 10 Chinese program. However, there will be an increase of the breadth and depth of the content.
