Enrolling Apple Devices

While at Ruyton, students will need to enroll their Apple device into our Mobile Device Management System. This will enable them to install all appropriate software, such as school printing, Microsoft Office and the Google Backup and Sync backup tool, via the Self Service application that will install on their device upon enrollment.

Students will need their Ruyton Account details (Username and Password) to be able to enrol their device. New students will receive this information on their first day at Ruyton.

To enroll a MacBook in the system it is required to be running at least the 'macOS Monterey' version of the Operating System (OS). You can check what OS version your MacBook is running by following the steps at this Apple webpage: https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT201260. This webpage also contains a link with details on how to update your MacBook to the latest OS version, we strongly recommend you upgrade you MacBook before you continue with enrollment.

1. On your MacBook, please click on the following link (or copy into a web browser) and login with your Ruyton username and password (same username and password as your Ruyton email account): https://jamf.ruyton.vic.edu.au:8443/enrol

5. The MDM profile file should open automatically in the System Preferences app, select the Install button. If it doesn't automatically appear on your screen, follow steps 3a - 3d above to open the file from the downloads folder but instead of the file being called 'CA Certificate', it's called 'MDM profile'.

6. A window will appear prompting you to type in your your MacBook Username and Password to proceed with installation, then click on the 'OK' button.

7. The MDM Profile will then install and appear in the Profile list on the left side. Go back to the web browser where you initially logged in, 'The enrollment process is complete' will appear indicating enrollment was successful.

8. The Self Service application will install in to your applications folder. Once it appears in your list of applications, either in Finder or Launch Pad, you can open it.

     b. Please take a few moments to explore the application. Applications you may require for school can be downloaded from here and any new applications you may request in the future will be here also. An example application to install is the Ruyton Printers, located in the 'Printing' section.
